Adding or subtracting days from a date is trickier than it looks - months have different lengths, leap years exist, and mental arithmetic quickly becomes error-prone. An online date calculator does it instantly.

What This Tool Does

The Add/Subtract Days calculator takes three inputs:

  1. A starting date
  2. An operation: add or subtract
  3. A number of days

It returns the resulting date - including the day of the week.

How to Use the Date Calculator

  1. Open the Add/Subtract Days tool on UtilWave.
  2. Choose a starting date (default is today).
  3. Select Add or Subtract.
  4. Enter the number of days.
  5. The resulting date and its weekday appear instantly.

When Do You Need This?

Deadlines from a reference date - "The payment is due 45 days after the invoice date." Invoice date: March 10. Due date = April 24.

Legal notice periods - A contract requires 30 days' written notice before termination. When must you send notice to end by a specific date?

Scheduling future appointments - "Follow up in 21 days." What date is that?

Expiration dates - A prescription lasts 90 days from filling. When does it expire?

Countdowns backward - "The event is in 60 days" - what date is 60 days before the event?

Project milestones - Sprint starts on Monday, lasts 14 days - sprint ends on Sunday.

Date Arithmetic with Months and Weeks

Need to add months or weeks instead of days? Quick conversions:

For legal and financial contexts, "30 days" and "1 month" are not the same. Always clarify which convention a contract uses.

Common Business Day Calculations

This tool counts all calendar days including weekends. If you need business days only (excluding weekends), use the Business Days Calculator tool for an accurate count that skips Saturdays and Sundays.

FAQ

Does the tool account for leap years? Yes - February 29 is counted correctly in leap years. If you add 1 day to February 28 in a leap year, the result is February 29.

What is the maximum number of days I can add or subtract? There is no practical limit - you can calculate dates years or decades in the future or past.

Can I add weeks or months directly? The tool works in days. Multiply weeks by 7. For months, note that each month has a different length, so "add 2 months" is better handled by the Date Difference tool.

What does the weekday in the result tell me? Knowing the weekday helps with scheduling: "90 days from now is a Saturday" tells you whether to plan for the business day before or after.
